Don’t panic: that’s the message from DBL Sharks Sheffield head coach Atiba Lyons ahead of the second round of fixtures in the BBL season.

Sharks tip-off at Worcester Wolves tonight before returning to the EIS on Sunday to host Plymouth Raiders and head coach Lyons is confident his side can bounce back from opening weekend defeats.

“It’s a long season, I’m not going to worry. Training’s been going well,” said Lyons.

Sharks were beaten 85-54 by Leicester Riders at EIS on Friday before falling to a 79-58 loss away at Leeds Force two days later. But Lyons insists his new-look team will be a formidable side once it has properly gelled. “We knew it’d be tough against Leicester, they had a good pre-season and have a strong team, and Leeds have improved a lot” said Lyons.

“We were good in spurts and played well in patches last weekend, we just need to continue that over the course of a full game. I’ll make a couple of changes in the offence - we’ve got guys who can shoot but they just haven’t shot well so far.

“Sometimes the team gels quick and sometimes it takes time. It was a great atmosphere last week and a brilliant turn-out, I’m hoping for the same again this weekend - I’d urge people to keep the faith because I have a lot of confidence in this team.”
