Sheffield Sharks suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Worcester Wolves in the BBL Championship at the EIS Sheffield, losing 87-90 in a sensational match.
Sharks came into the game having won back-to-back league games whilst Wolves had only lost once this season, falling to an excellent Leicester team.
Wolves started quickly as guard Ashton Khan showed off some excellent handling, getting to the rim multiple times and proving himself difficult for Sharks defence to handle.
A great steal by Kyle Odister and dunk by John Barber right at the end of the first quarter cut Wolves lead to 23-22, shifting the momentum in Sharks favour.
Sharks built on that momentum by coming out hot at the start of the second, producing a brilliant 15-4 run.
Sharks star Jerrold Brooks then produced a spell of sensational play at the end of the half, stunning the crowd with two majestic layups as Sheffield capped off a dominant quarter in style, entering the half up 51-38.
Wolves captain Jay Couisnard hit two three’s at the start of the third quarter to bring Worcester closer, but excellent play from Robinson kept the lead in double digits.
Couisnard then took charge for Worcester, hitting another three to reduce Sharks lead to 69-65 at the end of the third.
Josh Cameron put Wolves ahead for the first time since the start of the second quarter with four minutes left in the game.
A brilliant tip in by Colin Sing put Sharks up 83-80 with two minutes to play before Josh Cameron scored five points in ten seconds to put Wolves up 88-85 with under a minute to play.
Mike Cook missed two attempts at the death to tie the game as Sharks lost their fourth match of the season.
Sharks will be looking to bounce back against Manchester Giants at home on Friday.
