Three Barnsley boys headline a packed show at the town’s Metrodome on Friday, September 5.
Middleweight Ben Davies disputes the British Masters Silver title with Mike Byles, from Coventry.
And in another 10-rounder Lee Noble takes on Denaby Main’s Adam Jones.
Light middleweight Noble has had an excellent year, so far, winning three straight, including a victory over Sheffield rival Dave Fidler. Another success on Friday would bring his mixed record to W20 L24 D 3. Jones is W3 L5 D3. Also on the bill is lion-hearted Ben Wager, who trains at Sheffield Boxing Centre, who hopes to take his number of wins to double figures; he faces Brummie Chris Truman in an eight rounder.
It promises to be a big weekend: 24 hours later at Doncaster Dome, Durham southpaw Martin Ward contests the Commonwealth bantamweight title against unbeaten home-town boy Jason Cunningham. Cunningham won the English bantamweight title this year.
