BOXING champ Kell Brook is to present Sheffield United’s Player of the Year trophy at Sunday’s Star and Green ’Un football awards night, writes Bob Westerdale.

Brook, 25, was brought up a Blades fan, although he also hopes that Sheffield Wednesday achieve promotion through the play-offs to the Championship.

The Grenoside welterweight said: “I have always leaned towards United but I wish Wednesday all the best too. I am looking forward to The Star’s awards night.”

The Star and Green ’Un will be recognising the player of the year at all six of our local professional clubs at the glittering annual function, at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in South Sheffield. Other awards include Manager of the Year, Team of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

Brook is awaiting news of an opponent for his next Sheffield Arena fight night, scheduled for July 7.
