Sheffield’s former WBC champion Junior Witter isn’t about to let age hold him back – he’s targeting the British title again. The 41-year-old aims to be back in September or October and wants the Lonsdale belt. The Ingle gym veteran lost the title to recent Kell Brook-victim Frankie Gavin in 2012, having first won it a decade earlier. Witter has been pro boxing since he was 22.
Gavin, meanwhile, has yet to confirm his next fight, following the loss to IBF world champ Brook at London’s 02 Arena on May 30.
He said after that: “Frankie said afterwards: “I know what the right hand is all about now. He is strong, he is very good. He is a fantastic fighter but I will be back. I am really enjoying my boxing and will come back stronger.
“I have no regrets, not at all. I fought for a world title and didn’t disgrace myself, I did as well as I could.
“I will be back and hopefully I will have another shot soon.”
