Kell Brook’s next fight may be against the victor of a Saturday night showdown in Quebec, Canada.
Home town welterweight Kevin Bizier takes on Romanian Ionut Dan Ion, in an IBF title eliminator.
With talk of a domestic super-fight with Amir Khan meeting little enthusiasm from the Bolton fighter’s camp, Brook may now fight one of these two at Sheffield Arena on March 7.
Ion, who lives in Quebec, is 33 and has a won 33 (KO 18) lost two record and has never been stopped. Bizier, 30, has lost once in 24 fights. The pair have slugged out a 12-rounder before, with Bizier winning on a split decision.
Brook’s trainer Dominic Ingle said: “We are preparing for a March fight and if there are no injuries it might be one of these two in Kell’s mandatory defence of his title. It won’t be the same as fighting Khan ofcourse, you never know if fights like that are going to happen. Ages ago Frank Warren was trying to make that, but it never happened.”
Kell Brook Arena nights always excite: he has beaten Vyacheslav Senchenko, Hector Saldivia, Carson Jones and Matthew Hatton there.
They also presented opportunities for local fighters like Adam Etches, Sam O’maison and Jordan Gill on the undercard.
