Madelaine Thompson helped Great Britain take bronze at the inaugural Under-25’s World Wheelchair Basketball Championships.

The Sheffield Steelers WB club star, from Hope, was part of the squad for the tournament at Brock University in St Catharine’s, Canada where she played against the host nation, America, Australia, Mexico and Germany.

Great Britain progressed to the knockout rounds with a win over Mexico and then gained an impressive victory over European heavyweights Germany. They lost out to eventual winners America in their semi-final but beat Canada in the third-fourth place play-off.
