Player-coach Andre Payette has set his sights and Sheffield Steeldogs had better deliver!
The team face a home double-header at iceSheffield this weekend against Guildford Flames on Saturday (7.30pm) and Swindon Wildcats on Sunday (5.30pm) with points very much up for grabs.
Second-place Flames handed out a 5-1 beating to the Steeldogs last weekend and may be too hot to handle but Payette sees Swindon as a massive game where a maximum points return is ‘nothing less than acceptable.’
Sunday’s visitors are just four points ahead of Sheffield and a win would close the gap even more and keep the seventh place spot in the Premier League in their sights.
Guildford, who are locked in a title battle with Manchester Phoenix, have several ex-Elite League players in their squad.
There’s a special ticket offer for the double-header ... buy tickets for both games and get Sunday’s at half price. A single game ticket costs: Adult £8, Concession £6, Child £3 (Under-8s free) and Family £18. Steeldogs returned to the ice last Sunday but were without Janis Ozolins who was injured in the 3-1 defeat at Basingstoke Bison 24 hours earlier. Edgars Bebris scored the Steeldogs lone goal against Guildford and Dimitri Zimozdra marked his debut in goal with the Man of the Match award. Chris Skyes was on target against Basingstoke and Ben Bowns was named MOM.
