Crushing win for Steelers

American player-coach Chaz Narwicz bagged a four-goal return as Sheffield Steelers first team crushed Old Stopfordians 13-6 at Disley.

It took the Abbeydale side’s unbeaten run to 10 and moved them into second place in Premier 2, two points behind leaders Boardman but with a match in hand.

England international Ben Lyon and skipper Sam Glover picked up hat-tricks while Dan Ievers 2 and Adam Jordan also got on the scoresheet.

Sheffield look to keep up the winning run against Norbury in the third round of the Stockport Cup at Abbeydale, on Saturday (2pm).

Elliott Appleyard and Sam Noble each scored hat-tricks for the A team but it wasn’t enough as they dipped to an 18-6 defeat to second placed side Cheadle in their Northern Division 1 clash at Abbeydale.

A battle for silverware beckons yet again for the Under-19s.

The current holders of the Norman Barber Knockout Shield, moved comfortably though to the semi-finals with an 11-0 victory over Wilmslow at Timperley.

They meet Stockport in the semi-finals on Sunday.
