Sheffield Steelers put on a solid all-round display in Scotland last night.

Chief sniper Stefan Meyer scored at Edinburgh Capitals at 16;29 after two defencemen Danny Meyers and Drew Fata had set him up.

Steelers had 13 other chances against goalie Tomas Hiadlovsky, but they went in the first interval just a single goal ahead. Caps had just five attempts on Frank Doyle.

Steelers just about kept control of the middle session, outshooting their hosts 14-8, but couldn’t improve on the scoreline.

At 48;21, with the game on a knife-edge, Max Lacroix gave Steelers some breathing room with a second.

Curtis Leinweber got one back at 51.33 but Meyer added an empty-netter with eight seconds left.
