Sheffield Steelers built on their Elite League regular season championship crowning from last week by sealing the first leg of their play-off against Fife Flyers 3-2.

The game went goalless in the first period, and Fife then took the lead in the second through Jamie Milam, but the Steelers fought back with two of their own - linemates Michael Forney and Colton Fretter getting them ahead.

Ned Lukacevic scored for Fife deep in the third period to make it 2-2 but the Steelers guaranteed the win through on-form Rob Dowd...with just 34 seconds left.

The pair collide again, tonight, with a place in the semi-finals for the overall winner.

Nottingham Panthers had to fight back as well against Coventry Blaze, who were 3-2 up at the end of the second period but conceded a a third-period goal to Guillaume Doucet.

Hull Stingrays faced off against Braehead Clan, and the latter were able to sneak through a 3-2 win with Derek Roehl getting a brace.
