Polish wing wizard Tomasz Cywka is confident Barnsley can make giant strides in the Championship this season.
Cywka penned a new one-year deal with the Reds yesterday having impressed at Oakwell last season.
And the former Wigan Athletic and Derby County playmaker outlined a bright future for the South Yorkshire if they can repeat the form they produced to avoid relegation last season with an inspired run of results.
“Hopefully we can take that momentum going forward,” Cywka told The Star. “If we do then we’re going to be a match for anyone.
“We [all the players] are proud of what we achieved last season. After the way we played in our last 20 games, we deserved to stay up.
“The last game of the season [away to Huddersfield Town] was crazy. We thought we were down. They did and, then we both stayed up.
“The most important thing for all of us was that we stayed up, because it gives us the chance to improve this season.”
Cywka is one of four players to have signed new deals with the club with defenders Jimmy McNulty and Tom Kennedy having signed one- and two-year contracts respectively, while striker Jason Scotland has penned a new one-year deal.
Former Sheffield Wednesday loan striker Chris O’Grady has signed for the Reds on a permanent basis.
