Blades are braced for Maguire bid

Sheffield United are bracing themselves for a third and final offer from Wolves, for defender Harry Maguire.

United chief executive Mal Brannigan revealed earlier this week that two bids - of around £1m and £1.2m - had been rejected, with the Bramall Lane club under no pressure to sell their star players.

But that hasn’t deterred last season’s League One champions, and manager Kenny Jackett is thought to be planning one more raid - which could see an offer amounting to around £2m.

United boss Nigel Clough, who hopes to unveil Andy Butler as his latest signing in the coming weeks, remains hopeful that Maguire will agree a new deal at Bramall Lane, with his current contract set to expire next year.
