Michael Higdon and Diego De Girolamo worked hard up front for Sheffield United, despite enjoying precious few opportunities during the first half, while Craig Alcock, Chris Basham and Jose Baxter also impressed.
Whatever was said during the half-time interval, even though Nigel Clough denied there were any heated words, helped transform Sheffield United after the break.
A draw was probably a fair result given that Preston North End were the better team before the break while Sheffield United enjoyed the second-half momentum.
