Sheffield United have announced they will stage a gala event in the city later this year to celebrate the club’s 125th anniversary, writes James Shield.
Legendary players including Alan Woodward, Tony Currie and Eddie Colquhoun are all scheduled to attend the evening which takes place at Ponds Forge following September 27th’s home fixture against Gillingham.
“This will be a unique occasion,” Mal Brannigan, United’s managing director, said. “Fans will be able to meet former players and managers as well as Nigel Clough, his management team and also the current first team squad.”
“It will be unmissable and we are expecting to sell-out,” Brannigan added. “There will be surprise special appearances from some of our celebrity supporters, a fantastic dinner and top entertainment.”
Interactive polls to decide United’s greatest ever manager and team will take place with many of those nominated expected to feature on the guest-list.
Tickets, priced from £60 with tables of 10 costing £500 (plus VAT) are available by telephoning 0871 663 2462.
