LEICESTER City are expected to tell Sheffield United target Jeffrey Schlupp that he can leave the King Power Stadium on loan.

Sources close to Schlupp, who has represented both Germany and Ghana at international level, confirmed last night the striker believes he will be allowed to depart in search of first-team football following Jamie Vardy’s arrival in the Midlands.

With David Nugent and Jermaine Beckford also at his disposal, City manager Nigel Pearson concedes opportunities are likely to be limited at the start of the campaign for a player who scored six goals in nine appearances for Brentford one year ago.

Although Charlton Athletic, Watford and Crystal Palace have also expressed an interest, United hope that Pearson’s reticence about brokering a deal with a rival Championship club could enhance their prospects of acquiring Schlupp’s services on a temporary basis.

Danny Wilson, the United manager, was on the verge of capturing the teenager on loan last season only for injury to intervene.

Vardy, previously of Stocksbridge Park Steels, completed a £1 million transfer to City earlier this summer.

Meanwhile, United have unveiled their new matchday prices for the forthcoming season which begins against Burton Albion next month.

The Category ‘C’ band has been abolished and replaced by ‘Family Day’ promotions, priced £10 (adults), £5 (concessions) and £1 (under-16’s).
