Sheffield United are sweating over the fitness of Ryan Flynn ahead of tomorrow’s trip to promotion-chasing Leyton Orient.
The winger was a notable absentee from the midweek draw with Walsall at Bramall Lane after aggravating the foot injury which has troubled him in recent weeks.
Flynn, an unused substitute at Bristol City last weekend, missed training in the early part of the week, prompting manager Nigel Clough to recall Jamie Murphy to his match-day squad against the Saddlers. The Scot came on as a late substitute on Tuesday. It was Murphy’s first outing since October.
“If Ryanis not right we’ll stick with Jamie on the bench,” Clough told The Star.
“Jamie was quiet in the first two to three weeks but, in the last week or two, he’s picked up in training.”
Defensive duo Marcus Williams and Darryl Westlake, on the periphery of United’s first team, have joined Scunthorpe United and Mansfield Town on loan respectively. Left-back Williams, who started his career at Glanford Park, is set to stay with the Iron until New Year’s Day while Westlake will remain with Mansfield until January 5.
