Swindon Town have a near full-strength squad at their disposal for tonight’s League One play-off semi-final first leg at Bramall Lane, writes James Shield.
Wes Foderingham (hip), Nathan Thompson (foot), Ben Gladwin (back), Jon Obika (back) and Massimo Luongo (ankle) were among those expected to miss the visit to Sheffield United but manager Mark Cooper yesterday revealed Harry Toffolo is now his only doubt.
The defender, on loan from Norwich City, was injured during Swindon’s draw with Colchester earlier this month.
“We’re as we thought really,” Cooper said. “I think we’ll be going in with more or less everybody fit.
“The only one is Harry Toffolo that will struggle. We’ll give him every opportunity to be ready for the game.
“We’ve got a number of people that can play in that position, it’s a big miss with Harry being a natural left-sided wing-back, but we’ve got people that can fill that role.”
Cooper also confirmed his team are preparing for their meeting with United to go “all the way.”
“We’ll be working on penalties thoroughly. It is a repetitive technique and, the more you do it, the theory is the better you should get,” he said. “We will spend some time on it and I’ve got in my mind seven or eight players who could be on the pitch at that time who would take penalties. It’d be those eight players who will practice.
“There are certain players who I want to take a penalty, who I know the atmosphere wouldn’t affect.”
