Sheffield United: We need the win as much as Orient do says Mark Howard

Mark Howard says Sheffield United head to Leyton Orient with the mindset that they need to win as much as their struggling hosts.

Just a single point will be enough for the Blades to secure a play-off spot while Orient sit a point from safety, fourth bottom in the League One standings.

But Howard insists United head to East London determined to pick up a victory after a three match winless run.

He said: “Leyton Orient need to win. They are always a tough team no matter what.

“We need to win and then that’s it.

“We know a draw would be enough but we want to go there and win.

“Obviously we are desperate to get over the line and cement our place.”

Howard says the Blades squad have been frustrated with the manner of some of their recent performances as they have struggled to get over the finishing line of the top six race.

But he says they have not dwelled too much on the fact they have failed to secure a play-off spot by now.

He said: “We’ve had a few frustrating games of late and things have not gone our way.

“Some of the goals conceded have been disappointing but that’s football. You just get on with it.”

Bob Harris could return for the Blades after missing the last three matches with a groin injury.

Harris had told United staff he feels fit enough to play.

Matt Done is likely to be rested ahead of the likely play-off campaign as he looks to shake off a groin problem.

Terry Kennedy and Ryan Flynn are also doubts.

Orient could be without former Blades striker Darius Henderson who has missed their last two games with a hamstring injury.
