A goal apiece from Chris Basham and Billy Sharp won the game and grabbed what The Star's James Shield described as a 'richly deserved' three points against Walsall at Bramall Lane.
Both goals came in an impressive first half showing from the Blades but while Nigel Adkins side were clinical on the ball, it was the hard work off it that stood out, according to James.
"In terms of professional pride it was key they made some sort of statement against Walsall. As good as they were with the ball, Sheffield United were a much more cohesive unit without it," said James.
"They pressed, they harried they annoyed what was a very technically gifted Walsall side and imposed their physicality on the game."
