DONCASTER Rovers’ fans have welcomed the introduction of new incentives for season ticket holders.
Among them are:
*Every season ticket holder will be sent an exclusive Rovers’ team poster with their name on it.
*A quarterly newsletter with news, views and information from around the club.
*280 adult and concessionary season ticket holders will get the chance to play a 45-minute game at the stadium via a draw.
*Under-16 season ticket holders will get the chance via a draw to take part in pre-match penalty shoot-outs.
*Every season ticket-holder will be able hire the facilities at the stadium for functions between 10 and 500 people on non-match days at special rates.
*Monthly draws for a signed Rovers’ shirt and signed ball.
*Special meet-the-manager and meet-the-chairman nights.
*Exclusive fans forums.
“Rovers have listened to our concerns and acted on a lot of them,” said Supporters’ Club official Paul Mayfield. “Not only do the club appear to be wanting to look after the existing season ticket holders better, but they also look to be dangling a carrot to try and attract new ones.
“They certainly seem to be making an effort to try and keep season ticket holders happy, which some will say is about time. I think some season ticket holders in the past felt that they had missed out because of all the special offers and promotions
“It’s good that the club have decided that they should look after their interests because they are the people who have helped the club get through the summer months, when there is little income, over the years.
“They haven’t quibbled about the various quid-a-kid offers over the years but apart from a free shirt, when Rovers changed suppliers a few years ago, they’ve not had any of the benefits that other fans have received during the season
“I know from speaking to season ticket holders that they’ve sometimes questioned: ‘what is the point of buying one when there are all these special deals on?’
“Hopefully they’ll feel more valued in future as a result of some of the new initiatives. Although not every season ticket holder is going to win one of the prizes on offer, at least they’ll be in with chance.
“Although a lot of supporters would like see the regular fans forums, which Sean O’Driscoll always made a point of attending when he was manager, start up again next season, I welcome the fact that manager Dean Saunders will be meeting with season ticket holders.
“A lot of supporters feel Dean needs to have more regular contact with the fans because it helps to build links.”
The club have sold around 2,500 season tickets to date.
Rovers will play Rotherham United in a pre-season friendly at their New York Stadium on Tuesday July 24.
