Maybe it was only this column. Was anyone else around Hillsborough holding their breath when Steven ‘Elvis’ Pressley was odds on favourite to become Huddersfield’s new manager?
I didn’t mention for fear of tempting fate but it seems safe enough now to think there will be no counter-attraction for Lee Bullen.
It wouldn’t have required a great leap of the imagination to think Pressley – previously linked with a move for Bully to join him at Coventry - would have come calling for his old Falkirk sidekick.
Just as well that Huddersfield seem to be looking elsewhere.
Not that Lee, a cult hero in these parts, would necessarily have been tempted. His partnership with
Stuart Gray has proved one of those happy accidents in football and long may it continue.
They barely knew each other when they were thrown together last season and early indications were that Bullen would move back to the academy after Gray was confirmed in the job. But the former skipper has established an all-purpose role straddling both jobs and it’s well worth keeping in place on a firm footing.
