Owls youngster Paul Corry is targeting an extended run in the Sheffield Wednesday team next season after his loan spell at League One Tranmere.
Corry was plucked from relative obscurity by Wednesday last year when he arrived from University College Dublin, making the step up from part-time football in the process.
He was loaned out to Tranmere at the back end of last season, making six appearances - and hopes to force his way into Wednesday’s team with a strong pre-season.
“I feel like I have come a long way,” Corry said.
“I am competing at a high level, and I’m always learning.
“I’m a very ambitious person, and I always try to push myself as much as I can.
“Pre-season will be vital for me - there’s a lot of competition at Wednesday, but I believe in my ability.”
Meanwhile the Owls, along with Sheffield United, have been seeded in the draw for the first round of the Capital One Cup, which takes place on Monday morning at 9.30am.
