Owls boss Jones ready to manoeuvre in the market

Sheffield Wednesday remain keen on bringing Leroy Lita back to Hillsborough - but Owls boss Dave Jones may have to sacrifice another player to do so.

Jones, who brought Lita to Hillsborough last season on a temporary loan deal, remains a big admirer of the Swansea striker’s talents and wants to broker another deal, especially after Gary Madine was ruled out for a month before his impending court case.

Jones’ out-and-out striking options now consist of Chris Maguire and Atdhe Nuhiu, although he has the option of using Michail Antonio up top, too, in the South Yorkshire derby against Leeds at Elland Road this weekend.

But to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations, which limit clubs’ spending to a percentage of turnover, Jones must move out players first. That means the likes of Jose Semedo and Joe Mattock could be sacrificed, if a club comes in with an offer.

“We must comply with FFP,” Owls chairman Milan Mandaric said.

“I believe this is a step in the right direction, and will be a positive move for the game.”
