A CONTROVERSIAL penalty just 10-minutes before full time cost Sheffield Wednesday two vital points as they drew 1-1 at Dagenham and Redbridge, writes Digital Editor Graham Walker.

The Owls took the lead in a scrappy first half when Gary Teale glanced Michael Morrison’s long throw in past keeper Tony Roberts in the 17th minute.

But the hosts grabbed a point when Chris Sedgwick was adjudged to have handled Darren Currie’s cross, leaving Danny Green to slot home from the spot.

Darren Potter almost scored but Roberts got down well to repel his low drive, in front of a crowd of just 3,549 fans.

Wednesday, who remain four points from the drop zone, continue to struggle to win games - they haven’t won in their last four matches.

Fellow strugglers The Daggers sit one point above the League One relegation places but are at least now unbeaten in six.
