Gary Megson has ordered Sheffield Wednesday’s pitch to be shrunk in a bid to go large on a promotion challenge next season.

“It’s way too big a surface,” said the Owls boss.

Last summer former manager Alan Irvine increased the playing dimensions, feeling that would suit the players he was bringing to the club and his tactical blueprint.

Now Megson has decided to revert to the previous size. He wants to tighten up on the opposition and ensure his side can play at the high tempo he demands.
