DAVE Jones may have wasted no time in shaping his Sheffield Wednesday squad following promotion last season, adding five players to his Championship roster.

But the Owls boss is also understood to be willing to play the waiting game – for the right players.

Michail Antonio, the Reading winger who proved the catalyst for Wednesday’s automatic promotion from League One last term, continues to feature on Jones’ wish list – but understandably wants a crack at the Premier League after The Royals’ own promotion in 2011/12.

It is believed that Reading will let the winger leave, however – but only for the right price. A bid of £350,000 from Wednesday has already been turned down, but Jones is not ready to accept defeat yet in his pursuit.

Nile Ranger and Keith Treacy, last season’s fellow loan stars from Newcastle United and Burnley respectively, are also thought to interest Jones, who has already brought Chris Kirkland, right-back Kieran Lee, Joe Mattock, striker Chris Maguire and Anthony Gardner to Hillsborough.

Jones has not yet entered the loan market, but is fully prepared to do so – especially after the success of Antonio and Danny Batth last season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday have reported strong sales of their 2012/13 home kit after it went on sale last week.

Featuring a retro design, the shirt has the Puma logo on the right shoulder and is made of the latest polyester material.

“We made a conscious decision to go with a more retro design, after some quite ‘different’ designs over the last few years,” James Hargreaves, digital marketing manager at Wednesday, told the Sheffield Telegraph.

“For example last season’s pinstriped kit, which was our best selling kit of all time. But we decided to return to black shorts for next season and it works really well.

“Hopefully a few generations of Wednesdayites will see the new kit and think it looks like one from their era!”

The home kit is available now, with shirts starting at £30 for junior sizes and £40 for adults. Shorts are £17 and £20 respectively, and socks £8 and £10.

Wednesday will reveal their 2012/13 away strip at their ‘Owls in the Park Community Fun Day’ at Hillsborough Park on July 14.
