Sheffield Wednesday: How Jos Luhukay team talk set up third consecutive Owls win

Jos Luhukay's half-time team talk helped Sheffield Wednesday move up to ninth in the table as they won away from home in the Championship for the first time this season.

The Owls saw off Reading 2-1 today with superb goals from Adam Reach and Lucas Joao to record their third straight league victory.

They swept into a 2-0 lead just seconds after the interval when Joao struck from long range following words of advice from boss Luhukay in the dressing room.

"We started the second half directly with the second goal," the manager said. "We spoke about that at half-time, that we must try to play more football and work together for stronger defending."

Wednesday started well and took the lead when Reach stroked home the ball from 18 yards. Joao added a sensational second before the winless Royals pulled a goal back to set up a tense finish.

"The team worked hard for 95 minutes. In the first 25 to 30 minutes, we played very well," Luhukay said.

"We had chances and it was a fantastic goal. It was not an easy goal for Adam Reach to score. It was good to see that.

"We lost the ball too easily in the last 15 minutes of the first half and played too many long balls.

"At 2-1, you have to last 25 to 30 minutes. We had a few difficult moments."

Luhukay will now given his players a couple of days off as they head into the international break.
