Owls chief Carlos Carvalhal insists he has no qualms over giving youth a chance next season.
Development squad players Joe Wildsmith, Cameron Dawson, Ryan Meadows and Ryan Croasdale have all featured in Wednesday’s opening two friendlies.
The quartet are poised to be given run-outs in this afternoon’s warm-up match at York City as Carvalhal continues to assess his options in preparation for the new Championship season, which gets underway in three weeks.
“We have some good young boys,” said the Portuguese. “We want to give them opportunities to play. They are playing because they are really improving.
“If they are better than others, then of course they will play. It is not about the names or CV’s of players. It’s about the quality of the boys.”
Wednesday have sold-out their 2,000 ticket allocation for the trip to York. There will be no pay on the day facility and fans have been urged not travel without a valid match ticket.
