Sheffield Wednesday: Owls boss takes fresh look

Dave Jones could use this afternoon’s private friendly with Hull City to look at one or two different things.

The Sheffield Wednesday manager, angered like all Owls followers over the abject display at Pride Park, suggested he would involve some of those players in at least one of this week’s two private games.

He didn’t on Tuesday, tending to use a number of players on the fringe of the squad against Burnley which ended 1-1, Jose Semedo scoring for the Owls. He may do so today however.

Among those involved was midfielder Rhys McCabe who had an outing at right back.

Jones is understood to have been puzzled by the apparent lethargy in his side’s display in the 3-0 loss at Derby and has been looking for answers as to reasons why they had such an off-day in so many respects.

The pre-match build-up saw them working at the new FA training headquarters at St.George’s Park at Burton.

Wednesday’s next game is a week on Saturday at home to Huddersfield who will have top scorer James Vaughan available again after a three-match ban.
