Championship strugglers Sheffield Wednesday are poised to attract their biggest crowd of the season when they entertain South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers this weekend.
An attendance of more than 23,000 is expected to flock to Hillsborough on Saturday as the Owls chase their first victory in all competitions during the 2013/14 campaign.
Wednesday’s largest turn-out so far is 22,328 for their 1-1 draw with Yeovil Town earlier this month but their showdown with Rovers is likely to top that figure. Dave Jones men have drawn their last two home matches.
The Owls sit 21st in the table, having accrued just four points from their opening seven league outings. They have yet to keep a clean-sheet and Jones may alter his back four again after watching his team concede another four goals at Birmingham City. Lewis Buxton could return after missing the last three fixtures through injury.
Rovers, managed by Paul Dickov, have claimed a meagre one win from seven games since gaining promotion to the second-tier of English football and have yet to triumph on the road.
