Giles Coke says supporters are now seeing the best of him in Wednesday colours.

The midfield ace continued his impressive start to the campaign with a marauding performance to earn the Owls’ man of the match prize in the defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend.

After a mixed bag of a four year career at Hillsborough so far, Coke finally feels he has reached his best form for the club.

And he says consistently playing in front of big crowds at Hillsborough is ‘a dream come true.’

“I think this run is the best I’ve played in a Wednesday shirt,” Coke said.

“I love playing football, man of the match or not.

“I love going out and playing in front of 25,000 at Hillsborough.

“It’s every player’s dream and I love it here.

“You want to be playing in front of big crowds.

“I’m sure if we were pushing for the top six then we’d be pushing 30,000 gates.”

Coke has made 87 appearances for the Owls since joining from Motherwell four years ago.

He has intermittently found himself on the fringes at the club and has had loan spells with Bury – twice – and Swindon, with a departure looking most likely at times for the former QPR trainee.

But since the final few months of last season, the midfielder has found himself a regular member of the matchday squad.

His season started with a superb goal in the opening day win at Brighton and he has failed to start just two of the seven games so far.

Coke feels the key to his good form is the presence of Stuart Gray in the Owls hotseat.

The 28-year-old’s entire two year spell at Northampton Town coincided with Gray occupying the managerial role at Sixfields.

And he feels the popular head coach knows exactly how to get the best out of him.

“He knows me better than anyone,” Coke said of Gray.

“No one will say a bad word about him.

“The coaching and training is good and when you’ve got that everyone wants to play for him and run that extra yard.

“We’re really benefitting from it.”
