Owls head coach Stuart Gray has welcomed the return to fitness of Guinea international Kamil Zayatte ahead of their trip to Rotherham United this afternoon.
The centre-back has missed Wednesday’s last three Championship fixtures due to a hamstring problem he sustained in their Hillsborough defeat to Blackburn Rovers.
But Zayatte, who is battling to secure a new Owls contract, resumed first-team training on Thursday and Gray could include the 30-year-old in his match-day squad today.
Gray told The Star: “Kamil [Zayatte] is a very experienced defender. He’s an organiser and somebody who enjoys tackling and being hit by the ball.
“Having Kamil back gives me more options to choose from on Saturday.”
Following Tuesday’s disappointing 3-0 reversal at top-six hopefuls Wolves, there is a possiblity Gray may recall Zayatte at heart of Wednesday’s rearguard, meaning Claude Dielna could drop to the substitutes bench.
Winger Lloyd Isgrove is vying to make his Owls debut, having arrived on loan from Southampton until the end of the season, while striker Caolan Lavery is pushing for a starting berth after a lively second-half cameo at Molineux.
