SANCHEZ Watt will be unable to play in Sheffield Wednesday’s FA Cup tie against Aldershot.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused permission for the on-loan forward to play for the Owls in the competition.
Wednesday boss Gary Megson has taken the news in his stride and knew there was a good chance that the Gunners’ would follow their usual policy.
“It’s not a blow, because it’s what I expected, really,” said Megson.
“I had a good chat with Arsene and I understand perfectly Arsenal’s point of view.
“I used to do the same myself when I was at Bolton.
“It is not unusual for a Premier League club not to want their player cup-tied by allowing them to play for somebody else in the cup, but a loan move is still a good way for young players to gain experience.”
Sanchez was also the odd man out last Saturday when Megson had to leave out one of his six loan players for the Leyton Orient game, to comply with League rules.
The 20-year-old could be in the squad for the next League game, away to Oldham a week on Saturday.
Huddersfield, who have been pushed down to third in the table by the Owls and lost at Charlton, have no game until then because they are out of the cup - they lost 4-1 at Swindon - and their next match is at home to Bournemouth.
Wednesday and the Terriers meet at Hillsborough on Saturday, December 17.
