Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has kept his promise to the club’s fans by making half-a-dozen signings by the end of the month.
Midfielder Michael O’Connor became Rotherham’s sixth new signing after last night completing a move that was tipped in The Star earlier this week.
The talented 24-year-old, capped 10 times by Northern Ireland, has agreed a two-year deal after turning down an offer from his club, Scunthorpe United.
It means O’Connor will be stepping down from League One having played in The Championship with Scunthorpe the season before this one.
He said he had no qualms at stepping down to League Two after meeting boss Evans and seeing the New York Stadium.
He follows the signings of Daniel Nardiello, Kayode Odejayi, Ian Sharps, Nicky Hunt and goalkeeper Scott Shearer.
There would have been another newcomer this week but a move for a winger fell through, with the player apparently pricing himself out of a deal which, according to the club, had been agreed the previous day. The player was set for a medical and to complete formalities.
