Following draws at play-off chasing Stevenage and at home to similarly placed MK Dons, Spireites host fellow top-enders Huddersfield Town tonight.
Simon Grayson’s team haven’t tasted defeat since he replaced Lee Clark but they have drawn four of his six games in charge. At the weekend an own goal in stoppage time at Colchester United earned a point for a team that haven’t won away from home since Jordan Rhodes hit five in a 6-0 win at Wycombe in January.
John Sheridan will be without left-back Liam Ridehalgh, on loan from Huddersfield, he’s not eligible to play. Nathan Smith and Gregor Robertson will be battling for the vacant slot, the latter having trained fully for the last week after hamstring injury.
The prize for the winner could be a start at Wembley on Sunday as Ridehalgh is cup-tied.
Spireites will be desperate to inflict a defeat on the Terriers as six of the eight clubs immediately above them in the table play each other whilst the other two are away at top three sides, so it looks like an evening where dropped points in the relegation zone are certain.
However the only two sides to have inflicted defeat on Huddersfield in away League One games in the last 16 months are Southampton and Charlton. Jimmy Juan (ankle) remains on the sidelines.
