Four teams are level on maximum points in the Ivan Priestley Under-17 division after wins for Whitley Hall, Bradfield, Sheffield Collegiate and Thorncliffe.
Whitley Hall powered past Shiregreen by 44 runs. Andrew Pickering got the Whitley innings off to a fine start and Jack Myres managed 27 as they ran up 131-5. Lewis Bingley hit seven boundaries in his 32 but Shiregreen lost regular wickets against the bowling of Joshua Dobson, whose spell of 3-9 from three overs proved decisive, the hosts closing on 87-6.
Bradfield won another close encounter against the Under-15 Rep Squad. Tom Moore’s excellent half century saw the Reps post a challenging 123-2 and Bradfield looked out of the game at 60-0 with only six overs left but some lusty hitting from Faulkner (49 no) and Liam Hague (36 no) saw them home with three balls to spare, Hague hitting consecutive sixes to finish the match off.
Collegiate had things all their own way as they outclassed Stocksbridge. Matt Lee (47), Tom Hancock (29) and Chris Pickford (25) dismantled the home side’s bowling as they stormed to 160-6 and Stocksbridge then capitulated against the bowling of Khaizer Ramzan (4-0-16-5) and were all out for 30. Thorncliffe dismissed visitors Norton Oakes for just 62, Joe Denby hitting top form with figures of 3-2-5-4 and Ryan Stringer (26*) saw to it that victory was sealed by seven wickets.
