SHEFFIELD’S Wimbledon champion Jonny Marray and new doubles teammate Colin Fleming began their partnership in the best possible way with a straight sets victory in the first round of the Open Sud de France in Montpellier on Monday.
Marray and Fleming, who are top seeds in the ATP 250 Series tournament, beat French wild card pair Gael Monfils and Josselin Ouanna 7-5 7-6(5) to set up a last eight meeting with either Florent Serra and Gilles Simon or James Cerretani and Adil Shamasdin.
American Christian Harrison picked up his first ever professional title in Sheffield last Saturday.
The 18-year-old beat Britain’s Ed Corrie in three sets (6-4 2-6 7-6) to win the Aegon GB Pro-Series at Graves Tennis Centre.
This weekend Europe’s finest young female tennis players are at Graves in the Tennis Europe Winter Cup.
Eight teams, including Great Britain, will battle it out. Entry is free for spectators.
