Late surge sees Hatters home

Great finish, shame about the shaky start as Health365 Hatters finally netted a comfortable 84-52 victory at Sevenoaks Suns.

They led 22-17 after the first quarter but were out-gunned in the second to trail by two points going into the second half. Hatters regained an eight point lead and then restricted the home side to just two points in the final session as they piled on the points.

Top scorers: Helen Naylor 24, Stephanie Gandy 19, Sarah Naylor 17.

The win maintained their top of the table spot in National League Division One - they’re level with UWIC Archers on 22 points and head third place Nottingham Wildcats by two points but have a game in hand over their main two rivals.

Hatters travel to Barking Abbey Leopards on Saturday.

The second team suffered a double-header defeat, going down 59-49 to National League Division Two North rivals Sefton Stars and 53-44 against Mansfield Giants.

Lindsay 12, Clayton and Campbell, both 10, were top scorers against Sefton while Clayton 11, Carrick 10 and Campbell 9 led the way in the Giants clash.

The Under-16s were never headed as they eclipsed Newcastle Eagles 82-37.
