CARIBBEAN Sports slumped to a five-wicket Solly Sports South Yorkshire Cricket Alliance Premier Division defeat at home to Wath thirds.

The Sheffield side, for whom opener Nelson Windle (36) and skipper Steve Miller (35), shared the batting honours, made 164-8 after being put in. Nathan Bailey-Davies took 4-45.

Opener Mark Limb hit an unbeaten 74 in Wath’s reply with skipper Tom Desborough hitting five fours and two sixes in his 43.

Derrick Carwin bagged 3-32.

Handsworth beat Sheffield United thirds by 51 runs.

Put into bat, the home side made 204-8 with Scott Naseby (31), Majid Hussain (33), Scott Croydon (30) - who all hit five fours - sharing the honours with Matthew Marsh (33). David Marsden (4-39) was the pick of the United bowlers.

In reply, United lost their way following the departure of opener Stuart Benzies, whose top-score 45 included seven fours and a six, and No 3 Joe Marshall (22) and were all out for 153. Junior Mohammed Alam took 3-38.

Parklands suffered a 54-run defeat at home to Shiregreen seconds.

Batting first after winning the toss, Shiregreen defied a 5-30 haul by Lee Cullingworth to make 139 all out - skipper Eric Robinson hitting seven fours in an unbeaten 35.

The Doncaster side never recovered from being 20-4, despite a spirited fifth-wicket stand by Matthew Turner (25) and Nigel Knowles (21), and were all out for 85. Adeeb Hussain took 4-17.
