Sheffield Hallam women’s first team endured a topsy-turvy weekend, which saw them crash to a 3-1 defeat to Springfields on Saturday - but recover to post a 4-2 win against Bolton on Sunday.
Hallam will be greatly disappointed with their weekend, after Saturday’s defeat handed the initiative back to Kendal in the race to secure the one national league promotion spot in the North Women’s Premier Division.
Bowdon seconds lead the way on 42 points with Durham University seconds in second on 38.
However, neither of these clubs can be promoted as national league rules prohibit second teams entering the national league.
Kendal are third on 33 points with Hallam fourth on 30.
This week Sheffield Hallam travel to Chester while Kendal are away at Longridge. Both fixtures should favour the stronger teams.
Hallam’s second team beat Leeds Adel Carnegie 2-0, in a dominating performance.
This weekend, they host Harrogate at Abbeydale Park,
Jemima Board, meanwhile, scored again as Hallam’s thirds beat Huddersfield Dragons 3-1.
This week they play third-placed Harrogate’s third string at Abbeydale Park (4.30pm start).
The fourth side, meanwhile, lost 7-0 to Sheffield University Bankers.
This week they play Grasshoppers, one of the stronger ex-Sheffield League clubs.
