Sheffield Steelers were tonight celebrating two wins at Belfast Giants over consecutive evenings.

Tonight's ruthless win in Northern Ireland sent a clear message that Steelers are determined to retain their title.

The champions conceded after two minutes, with Brandon Benedict firing past goaltender Marek Pinc.

But three minutes later centreman Jeff Legue levelled.

From that point, there was no going back.

At the half way point, Tyler Mosienko notched Sheffield's second of the night.

Mathieu Roy rocked Belfast with a third just 39 seconds later - the visitors taking a two goal lead into the dressing room in the second interval.

It was no more than what they deserved.

Sheffield were determined to hang on to the lead and were dogged and determined in a 0-0 last period in which their defence stifled Belfast's forwards with ultimate efficiency.

Coach Paul Thompson said: "This is a very talented team we have beaten twice this weekend.

"I think we have shown we can play two very different games. Last night and tonights were very different. We dominated from the get-go last night, we weathered the storm tonight.

"We knew that we would face a proud and angry team today following last night's game and we did. Sometimes you bend but you don't break, to be honest I didn't think we bent too much. Yes we faced a lot of shots but we were strong in all areas."
