League leaders Parkhead showed why they have made a good start to the season with an emphatic win at home over Apperknowle.
The visitors posted an very good 223, with 81 from Crookes 81 and 59 from Loughlin but Parkhead were far from daunted as they hit 224 -1 in reply thanks to a magnificent 121 from Helliwell and an unbeaten 78 from Burkinshaw.
All rounder David Ward is having a great season. He played a major role in Holmesfield’s win at bottom of the table Hundall with 53 in his side’s total of 189-7 (Yardy 5-61) and then took 4-71 as the home side fell 19 runs short (David Marsh 59).
De La Salle picked up their first win of the season with a nine wicket victory at Sheffield Centralians. They dismissed the home side for 74 with Wainwright having an excellent return of 7-35 and then raced to 75-1 in reply.
Sheffield University Staff made 182-5 (Radotra 76) and then bowled out visitors Hollinsend Meths for 123 (Sharma 4-23) to move up to second in the table.
Weston Park were quickly brought down to earth after last week’s massive score when they were bowled out for just 94 at Division Two rivals Dronfield Woodhouse with Robinson returning 4-46 and Lewis 4-43. Sanders hit an unbeaten 46 as the home side raced to an eight wicket win.
There was a magnificent seven for Les Harris as he guided Stocksbridge to top spot.
He returned superb figures of 7-19 as Ashford were dismissed for 125 chasing a Stocksbridge total of 171 (Hughes 50, Tomlinson 41).
