Sheffield Sharks got their revenge on opponents Cheshire Phoenix at the EIS last night, winning 97-86.
Sharks began with an explosive start, leading 10-3 in the first 3 minutes, with Jerrold Brooks controlling the early game. While maintaining a solid defence early on, familiar cracks started to show in a very similar fashion to recent performances. Phoenix ended the quarter with a 10-0 run to put them up 17-18.
A better quarter for Sharks saw them go into the halfway point up 45-44. Pinpoint free throw shooting from MVP TJ Robinson saw him post 17 points in just the first half, ending on a massive 29. However the lead could have been bigger, with it being a story of missed opportunities for both sides.
The point trading continued, with no side establishing a solid lead, ending with Phoenix taking a 73-68 advantage. Mistakes from Sharks led to back-to-back points for the Nix, with Brooks doing everything he could to pull Sharks through, hitting a big three pointer.
Phoenix entered the final quarter still with their noses in front, however mistakes led to TJ Robinson being allowed to explode into action with three big layups and a three-point play, to put the Sharks ahead 81-77 with 6 minutes to go. This really was the Jerrold Brooks show though, scoring back to back layups and a huge three pointer to put the Sharks up 94-84 with a minute to go.
