HOOKER James Davey aims to make every minute count when he’s on the field for Sheffield Eagles in the new season.
In 11 games on loan last year Davey made only one start and his time off the bench was limited to short spells covering for regular number nine Andrew Henderson.
Changing-room banter by teammates saw the 23-year-old called the Eagles ‘20-minute man’.
Now the move from Wakefield Trinity Wildcats has been made permanent and Davey is determined to see more action.
“It’s true I did spend a lot of time on the bench but hopefully I can get more game time this year and do well,” said Davey.
“It’s an incentive, only doing short spells off the bench and you look for a good impact but I want more minutes this year.”
After helping the Eagles to win their first ever Championship Grand Final, the decision to sign for the club wasn’t a difficult one, he says.
