SHEFFIELD Sharks coach Atiba Lyons isn’t discounting a dramatic comeback against Leicester Riders in the BBL Cup semi-final on Saturday night.

The Sharks lost 90-70 in the first leg at the EIS last Friday and face a tough task to overturn the deficit against one of British basketball’s strongest squads.

But Lyons saw enough in Sunday’s 88-73 victory at Durham Wildcats to suggest that new point-guard BJ Holmes can provide the spark for Sharks to at least make it interesting in the East Midlands.

He said: “We’re going there to compete. We’ve come from 25 points down before so it has been done.”

Tomorrow (7.30pm) Sheffield are in league action at the EIS against the winless Mersey Tigers. Sharks victory at Durham moved them to ninth in the league.
