Second-placed Belfast Giants overcame Sheffield Steelers 4-1 in Saturday's Elite League encounter.

Mitch Ganzak, Mark Garside, Colin Shields and Jonathan Boxill scored as the Giants triumphed at the SSE Arena .

Steelers, who are getting a reputation as slow starters, were 3-1 down after 14 minutes.

Mathieu Roy was the sole scorer for the defending champions.

Edinburgh Capitals made it six wins in 11 league matches as they saw off the Cardiff Devils 6-2, while Fife Flyers won 4-3 at Manchester Storm.

Nottingham Panthers swatted aside Dundee Stars 7-1, while Coventry Blaze won their Continental Cup Group C match against Serbia's Partizan Belgrade 12-1.
