Sheffield Steelers lose twice at league leading Belfast

Belfast Giants have used Sheffield Steelers as another stepping stone towards the Elite League title this weekend.

The division pace-setters beat second-place Sheffield 4-2 on Saturday night.

And last night they won a tightly contested competition 4-3.

Jeff Legue, Dustin Kohn and Chad Langlais scored for Doug Christiansen’s side, but it was not enough.

Jeffrey Szwez put Beflast Giants ahead on their first shift after 13 seconds.

Jonathan Phillips, levelled, but Szwez popped in another first period goal for the Irish.

There was a second period stalemate.

But Adam Keefe added another for Belfast on 47;30.

Szwez secured his hat-trick for 4-1 before a PP consolation from Rob Dowd.
