Sheffield Steelers’ scoring irony

Goals have sometimes been an issue for Sheffield Steelers this year.

So it is with some irony that the club may leave out its top goalscorer this coming weekend.

Matt Marquardt leads the team with 27 goals in all domestic competitions, one more than Mathieu Roy.

But he and Tim Wallace were healthy scratches last weekend and coach Paul Thompson may stick with the team that qualified for the Play Off semi final against Nottingham Panthers, on Saturday.

Steelers scored fewer goals than their Conference counterparts, including Panthers, who finished below them.

However, the team is on a decent run, they have conceded less than any other team...and that means more than any individual’s score rate.
