SHEFFIELD’S retiring captain Shane Parker has admitted that he could’ve gone further in the sport, if he hadn’t enjoyed himself so much!
Parker, who retired after Thursday’s final league meeting at Ipswich, said he feels he enjoyed the high life in his younger days.
“Looking back on my career, I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed the partying so much. I’ve enjoyed my time over the years, maybe I wasn’t as dedicated to my racing in my younger days as I should have been.
“I believe I could’ve achieved more in the sport, but I can’t say that I haven’t enjoyed myself because I’ve had 22 amazing years.”
Parker has been a fixture in fellow Aussie Chris Holder’s Grand Prix pit crew this year, as well as helping the prodigiously talented Darcy Ward.
He said: “I think I’ve tried to help them both because I know where I went wrong and what I did.”
